Internal control specialist

ACT is looking for an Internal Control specialist. This is a unique opportunity to join world’s leading provider of market-based sustainability solutions with an entrepreneurial and innovative culture at the heart of its business. You will be responsible to ensure efficiency and effectiveness in operations, detecting and eliminating fraud, accuracy and reliability of internal and external reporting of information, as well as ensuring compliance with all for ACT relevant financial, regulatory and operational requirements.

 

In this exciting role you will gain intimate knowledge of our global business by collaborating with key business units in trading as well as finance, compliance and operations among others. Consequently, your leadership contributes directly to safeguard organizational and business continuity within our risk management framework.

 

This position will require you to have a strong big picture focus, without losing sight of the details to ensure you fully understand the challenges, risks and processes to assist in developing the internal control framework.

 

Role & Responsibilities

  • Own the design, implementation, documentation, assessment and monitoring of the internal control framework, including group policies and key risks in order to ensure that the group has adequate controls to prevent unintentional and intentional errors in financial reporting, processes and business operations;
  • Investigate existing business processes and create process maps;
  • Ensure key controls are appropriately designed (effective and efficient) and incorporated in the business processes (to monitor compliance);
  • Responsible for the company templates of policies, procedures, work instructions / Standard Operating Procedures (SOP), flow charts and documentation of the key controls (including evidencing);
  • Develop and conduct adequate training and prepare related information material on the internal control objectives, approach and methodology to business partners on a regular basis to build knowledge and understanding of risks and control.

Advising:

  • Acting as continuous improvement “guide” towards internal stakeholders;
  • Support the business to incorporate management information / KPIs in the business processes;
  • Provide help and guidance for audits - preparation and follow-ups;
  • Advise the business how to capture/store relevant evidence of performing the controls within the processes;
  • Assists in preparation of recommendations for implementation of new or revised policies, procedures, and/or process changes/improvements.

Reporting:

  • Provide gap analyses and monitor the remediation of gaps related to (new) processes/ policies, control standards and regulatory requirements;
  • Report to stakeholders on process compliance and opportunities for improvement.

 

Your profile

  • 3-5 years’ experience in a Big 4 firm;
  • Solid understanding and experience with internal control frameworks;
  • Strong experience and interest for how technology and systems can support internal control effectiveness and efficiency;
  • Ability to work in fast paced and dynamic setting;
  • Strong analytical skills, ability to spot, assess and address risk;
  • Proven track record of stakeholder management.
