Shaping the Future of Sustainability.

''While many companies talk about culture, ACT truly lives it''

Brandon Tan is working in ACT's Singapore office as an account executive for Green Project Technologies.
Can you tell us about your background before joining ACT Group?  I was born and raised in Singapore, and before joining ACT, I worked at LinkedIn for about two years and a half. During my time there, I focused on connecting people across various industries, but I felt a desire to switch gears toward something more impactful. Sustainability caught my attention, and when ACT reached out about a role focused on Green Project Technologies, I knew this was the opportunity I’d been waiting for. What drew you to ACT specifically? ACT’s vision really resonated with me. While many companies talk about culture, ACT truly lives it, especially in setting up the Singapore office. The people I met during the interview process were aligned with my vision of working for a company that has a positive impact on the world. I was excited by the potential to be part of a growing team with a clear and ambitious direction.

How did your transition from LinkedIn go?  The transition was both exciting and challenging. I joined ACT about a year ago, with little prior experience in sustainability. It was a steep learning curve, but I was fortunate to have supportive colleagues who were always willing to share knowledge. I am responsible to drive sales for Green Project Technologies (an ACT Company) across APAC, which is a great opportunity to bring new ideas to the table and better support clients along their decarbonisation journey.

What were some of the early challenges you faced? The amount of knowledge to gain was one of the biggest challenges at first. Sustainability was new to me, and the clients we worked with in Asia were also very new to the concept. It took a lot of teaching and patience to build those relationships. Additionally, dealing with different time zones was challenging, but it’s part of the things that come with a fast-expanding company.

How has your career evolved since joining ACT?  In the one year since joining, I’ve gained a lot of responsibility and growth. I've had opportunities to represent ACT in key discussions, like the recent interview with the OECD. This was a moment I am proud of because it showed how far we’ve come with Green Project Technologies. On top of that, I’ve learned a lot about Research and Development and cross-border work with the US office, which has broadened my perspective on the industry. Can you share an example of how your work aligns with ACT's mission?  My work directly contributes to ACT’s mission to lead in sustainability. Every day, I’m involved in delivering value to clients by helping them navigate their sustainability journey. When clients trust us with their ESG initiatives, it feels rewarding because we’re contributing to something larger than just business—it's about creating long-term, positive change. What is it like to work at ACT in terms of company culture, especially in the Singapore office? ACT has a unique culture. From the beginning, I noticed how transparent and humble the leadership is, especially in meeting with the C-suite team. ACT is upfront about its goals, and there’s a real sense of collaboration. The people here are not just colleagues—they're genuinely passionate about making an impact and supporting each other. That sense of camaraderie is something I didn’t always see in larger organizations.

What has been the most rewarding part of your journey here so far? The most rewarding aspect has been seeing the trust and impact we have on clients. In Asia, relationship-building is key, and once you’ve earned a client’s trust, the partnership becomes very strong. It’s amazing to help clients transition into sustainability and see their operations improve with our guidance.

How’s life in Singapore, and outside of work?  Life in Singapore is fast paced but peaceful. The city has this explosive energy, and I love the diverse cultures and languages here. We’ve also made great memories with the team whether it’s through dinners or fun events like National Day, where we dressed in Singaporean colors, next I will be packing my suitcase for our company weekend in Thailand.
What’s your vision for the future of ACT?  I truly believe ACT is on the path to becoming a recognized leader in sustainability. In the next five years, every time ESG is mentioned, ACT will be the first name people think of. We’re already making great strides, and I’m excited to be part of this journey.
